Jerry Mitchell serves as President and CEO of the Birmingham-based Alabama State Black Chamber of Commerce (ASBCC). The ASBCC is focused on advancing the interests of its membership and chartered affiliates through advocacy, education, business and economic research, accessing competitive intelligence and forming strategic alliances to maximize opportunities for success. In this position, he interacts with businesses across Alabama and oversees the ASBCC’s 6 network affiliates: the Birmingham Metro Black Chamber, the Mobile Area Black Chamber, the North Alabama African Chamber (Huntsville), the Northeast Alabama Black Chamber (Gadsden/Anniston), the River Region Black Chamber (Montgomery) and the Tuscaloosa Area Black Chamber. He has consulted with more than a thousand businesses/non-profits providing business development planning and technical assistance. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force and an entrepreneur, Mitchell was appointed to and serves on the Governor’s Alabama Small Business Advisory Committee.
Mitchell has a bachelor’s in accounting from VSU, a master’s degree in business management from Central Michigan University, and completed doctoral coursework at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
